Church Flowers
Fresh flowers are displayed in Busby Parish Church every Sunday except around the Christmas Period when the church is decorated with a Christmas Tree and seasonal greenery. The flowers are arranged by a special Flower Team led by Linda. After the service these flowers are distributed to members of the congregation or people in the parish of Busby who are ill, have recently been bereaved or are celebrating a special occasion. There is a Flower Calendar which enables members of the congregation to choose a Sunday in the year which is special to them, put their name on the calendar and donate the cost of the flowers for that special Sunday or put in their own floral decoration if they prefer to do so. On the first Sunday in October a traditional Harvest Thanksgiving Service takes place in Busby Parish Church at 11.00a.m. Gifts of flowers, tins and a variety of produce are donated by the congregation. After the service these gifts are distributed to the elderly, the sick and the bereaved in the congregation as well as various Church of Scotland Homes, the local Care of the Elderly Home and East Renfrewshire Social Work Department. |
